Volunteer

Become a Volunteer!

Volunteers play a critical role in helping students, pre-kindergarten through postsecondary, throughout the Omaha metro. Partnership 4 Kids offers a variety of volunteer opportunities ranging from short-term to long-term commitments.

Here’s Our Process:

Step One: Fill Out the Volunteer Interest Form

Step Two: Our Recruitment Team will be in touch!

Recruitment will contact you within 48 hours of your application submission.

Step Three: Meet with our staff to learn more about our current openings and decided which area is a best fit for you!

Step Four: Complete a background screen.

This will be sent to you in a two-part screen; the first will be sent by a recruitment team member, and the second will be sent after your completion of the first.

Step Five: Attend volunteer training for your selected role.

Recruitment will schedule training with you after both background screens are completed. Training will be scheduled based on your availability.

Check Out These Resources

Book Buddy

Engage Pre-K – 4th grade students twice a month through reading and facilitating an activity with an entire classroom of students, or in small groups.

Goal Buddy

Cultivate student accomplishment with 5th and 6th grade students twice a month by practicing goal setting and facilitating an activity with small groups of students.

Peer Mentor

In middle school through high school, mentors are paired with small groups to engage and inspire students, joining them for after-school meetings. Additional group outings are a fun way to deepen the mentor/mentee relationship!

One-Time Opportunities

Make a big difference with just a little time! Dedicate a small part of your day to help with career panels, mock interviews, dress for success, etiquette, resume skills, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before I fill out an application, I’d like to know more. Who do I speak with?

Our recruitment team is here to help. Simply email mentor@p4k.org and a team member will get back to you within 2-3 business days.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

All buddies and mentors must be nineteen years old per state law; however, reach out to us about other opportunities

What is training like?

Book Buddy and Goal Buddy training (one and a half hours) and Group Mentor training (two hours) require in-person training sessions. Held at our office or yours (if there is a group of you), this training prepares you for volunteering and allows you the opportunity to ask questions.

You must be trained before you can start as a Book Buddy, Goal Buddy, or a Group Mentor.

What is the time commitment for volunteering?

Our elementary buddies and group mentors are asked to commit to their role for the duration of the school year. Other opportunities vary based on the volunteer role. Reach out for more information.

I’d like to mentor with my friend. Can you place us together?

We will do our best to make this happen. If your friend is a Goal Buddy (elementary school) or Group Mentor (middle and high school) and there is a need at their group or school, we can certainly place you together.
