Evidence-Based Practices
Literacy & Goal Setting
Our P4K elementary programming includes literacy skill-building activities designed in alignment with English Language Arts (ELA) standards, as adopted by the Nebraska State Board of Education.
We continue to adopt new and innovative ways to keep our students, volunteers and schools engaged and excited about our programming!
College & Career Readiness
Our P4K middle school and high school program curriculum is based on components of the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE).
We create our curriculum to address the needs and desires of our student participants. As we adjust and innovate our programs, we dedicate ourselves to ensuring our methods are supported by program studies.
The program is more than mentors and students. It feels more like a family.

Postsecondary & Workforce Development
When designing postsecondary program curriculum, our team takes into account the best available evidence which suggests sector-based programs “remain among our most successful education and training efforts for disadvantaged US workers (Holzer).” Research conducted by Work Rise indicates that “sectoral employment programs generate substantial earnings increases in the year following training completion.” Participants require a continuum of services to achieve success in their sectoral programs and P4K is positioned to offer this continuum from preparation for initial job placement to continued support through case management.
Tutoring Program
Our tutoring program model was designed using the evidence-based tutoring program principles compiled by The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab based at the Massachusetts Institution of Technology, including the use of a one-to-four tutor/student ratio and hiring tutors who are trained and compensated for their efforts.
