AmeriCorps State & National
ServeNebraska
Partnership 4 Kids’ (P4K) mission to provide long-term support for lifelong success is made possible by the dedication of AmeriCorps Service Members and AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteer in Service to America).
AmeriCorps members work one-on-one with participating high school and postsecondary students while their VISTA counterparts make the organization stronger behind the scenes, building our capacity to serve Omaha’s youth. P4K’s positive impact on Omaha’s youth is due, in part, to the AmeriCorps members who dedicate their time and energy to student success. Program outcomes for high school and postsecondary students consistently exceed national averages thanks to AmeriCorps members working alongside P4K program staff.
AmeriCorps Service Member
AmeriCorps is the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. AmeriCorps provides opportunities for Americans of all backgrounds to serve their country, address the nation’s most pressing challenges, and improve lives and communities. AmeriCorps State Members help address community issues through direct service. At P4K, direct service looks like:
- Managing a student caseload of 30-100 to promote academic and personal success
- Meeting with students monthly to provide one-on-one support and resource referrals
- Helping first-generation students navigate applications, scholarships, and FAFSA
- Connecting students and families with supports to assist with graduation and postsecondary program completion

I was referred to P4K because I expressed my interest in gaining professional experience and doing volunteer opportunities before applying to graduate programs. Now I get to do just that through my AmeriCorps participation!
